Philadelphia is a great place. I had to wake up at 4:00 o’clock in the morning, which is not too early for me since I wake up around 5:45 every morning. It was a very long and restless drive, it seemed to me that it took around a day to get there, but it was only 3 and ½ hours. Finally when we got through New Jersey we got into Pennsylvania then it took around another hour to find Philly. We had to arrive at the Betsy Ross House so then the Tom Tom, which was the device that led us to Philadelphia, sent us the wrong way. It told us to stop on the highway, which we did not do, and told us to go on an exit, which was the wrong one. Then, finally after all that drama we arrived at the Betsy Ross House in Philly.
When we got there we went into the house and my Cub master asked, “Have you checked into the hotel yet?” We said “No.” That made us aware that we had to check into the hotel, fast!!! It took 15 minutes to get there and back. We were just in time, we went into the house again and went through the tour, it was very interesting.. The only place I heard about Betsy Ross was in my school. I was shocked to hear that the house was deserted for more than 150 years and was built nearly 210 years ago. “That was amazing” I said when we started to leave the house.
The next thing on the list was Franklin’s Court. We got lost and got there late we still got to do the things everybody else was doing, but we had to do it faster. Well, next, we went into The Printing Office, which was very cool. They had a machine that made copies of the Declaration Of Independence, the actual Declaration we did not see. The next room we went into was The Phone Room. Which was also cool they had loads of phones in there and they had them set up to call Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Betsy Ross and everybody else who was famous in that time. That concluded my visit in Franklin’s Court.
It was now 12:00AM. It was time for lunch, I thought it was good timing because I was starving!!! We went out of Franklin’s Court, and by the time we walked all the way to the plaza, it was already 12:15AM. We had lunch and enjoyed it, and it took around 45 minutes. Then we started walking over to the Liberty Bell, which was so cool. We had to read a bunch of stories first, and then we finally got to see the Liberty Bell, which was huge, it was the size of my 4-year-old brother. It was 2:00AM when we left it was time for our tour of the Courtroom. When that was done we went back to our Hotel we had a sleep. It was now time for supper; we walked to the pizza place and had a large pizza.
When we went to Lights of Liberty it was 9:00 PM. Lights of Liberty is an organized tour with headsets through Benjamin’s lawn. The website link is on my link box. It was 10:30PM when we were done with everything. We were back at the hotel, we slept, and when we woke up the next morning I started packing to go back home and when we walked out to the car it was time for us to go get a breakfast. We didn’t eat in the hotel we went over to a bakery and had a even better breakfast. After breakfast it was time to leave we went to the car and drove away home 3 and ½ hours later we got home and I said these two days were AMAZING!!!!!!
